Nova School of Business & Economics (Nova SBE), in partnership with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), inaugurated the first International Training Center for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL) in Portugal.

CIFAL in Cascais will provide training for executives in seven key-areas (Blue Economy and Marine Management; Energy Transition and Climate; Entrepreneurship and Innovation; Health, Leadership Paradoxes; and Migrations and Space) and will be the only one in the world with training in the areas of Blue Economy and Marine Management; Entrepreneurship and Innovation; Health and Migrations.

As the other UNITAR centers around the world, the Cascais center will also be dedicated to promoting the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, through capacity-building activities, research, and knowledge sharing.

This partnership demonstrates the recognition by the United Nations of Nova SBE's work in the production of applied knowledge, as well as the institution's commitment to developing new approaches that help answerto society's most urgent challenges. It also reveals the strong commitment and collaboration among different decision-makers and leaders for development.

UNITAR is present in all regions of the world with the mission of empowering individuals, governments, and organizations for contemporary global challenges. Between 2019 and 2022 alone, UNITAR's training actions impacted more than 825 mill people. UNITAR's network of affiliated CIFAL centers is a platform that provides training and learning opportunities, aimed at local authorities and civil society leaders, in a wide range of thematic areas related to Governance and Sustainable Development.
