The Madeira Startup Retreat, which brought ten international tourism startups together to help them have innovative and pioneering ideas so they can leverage on their potential, has officially begun its program activities.
After two weeks of welcoming, learning methodologies, tourism and travel trends, culture, identity, and leadership sessions, the program’s first hackathon took place having Altice, the multinational company, as its partner. On January 29th, 30th, and 31st, Frederico Santos, Paulo Chainho, and Filipe Freitas – the company’s representatives – presented four challenges to the selected startups. These challenges had to be solved by teams, which were created according to the role given to each participant in the beginning and constituted by, at least, a member of each startup. Each team then came up with a solution that had to be brought before a jury. This hackathon provided intense brainstorming days, in which programmers, designers, project managers, and specialists cooperated in a dynamic way to come up with solutions. The challenge’s official pictures are already available on Madeira Startup Retreat’s official Facebook page.
This was this initiative’s first hackathon, which will have yet another challenge of the sort, intensive networking and training events, workshops, and leisure activities.
