Awards

Nova SBE, in partnership with different national and international entities, annually rewards the students' academic achievements.

Income Share Agreement

This program aims to support Portuguese students accessing learning programs by paying the tuition fee, which students will only reimburse when they start working.

Scholarships

The Nova SBE Continuity Scholarship is an initiative aligned with the social mobility policy of Nova SBE. This program allows students who finish their bachelor's degree at Nova SBE and are admitted to one of its master's programs to continue to have the possibility to enjoy an education of excellence, allowing the school to support more students by broadening the eligibility threshold of the Social Mobility Scholarship, facilitating access, promoting social mobility and increasing diversity among our students.

Eligibility

Students who obtained a bachelor’s degree at Nova SBE and who were admitted toany master’s program at Nova SBE, and whose household gross income is less than 40 times the value of the IAS (Idexante dos Apoios Sociais – Social Support Index) of the same year (reference IAS 2023: 480,43 euros).

Value

This scholarship can cover 50 % or 100 % of the tuition fee value of the master’s program.

When a student is granted different scholarships within Nova SBE, the funding cannot exceed 70 % of the total amount of the tuition fee for the master’s program, except in cases where the funding comes entirely from a 100 % social mobility scholarship.

The scholarship prize does not fund the amounts related to the application fee, the first installment of tuition paid as the enrolment fee, the CEMS program, the Double Degree program, the amount value associated with additional semesters, exchange programs, or Executive Master's programs.

To apply, candidates need to show their interest in the Nova SBE Social Mobility Scholarship at the time of their application to the master’s program and submit the most recent household tax return properly identified. The documents must be originals or copies, accompanied by a sworn translation into English or Portuguese if they are written in any other language.

Applications are available for the Fall Intake.

The attribution of scholarships is subject to Nova SBE’s financial availability at the time of the application as well as the cohort of applications received.

Financial constraints should not stop candidates from pursuing their dreams. Therefore, Nova SBE offers a social mobility scholarship for students with a proven need for financial aid.

All candidates can apply for this scholarship, regardless of their country of origin.

Value

This scholarship can cover 20 %, 50 %, or 100 % of the tuition fee value of the Master’s program.

When a student is granted different scholarships within Nova SBE, the funding cannot exceed 70 % of the total amount of the tuition fee for the Master’s program, except in cases where the funding comes entirely from a 100 % social mobility scholarship.

The scholarship prize does not fund the amounts related to the application fee, the first installment of tuition paid as the enrolment fee, the CEMS program, the Double Degree Program, the amount value associated with additional semesters, exchange programs, or Executive Master's programs.

Nova SBE believes in distinguishing its students’ academic merit. Thus, Nova SBE offers merit scholarships to students who present high academic performance and based on their application.

Eligibility

All candidates can apply for this scholarship, regardless of their country of origin.

Value

This scholarship can cover 20 % or 50 % of the tuition fee value of the Master’s program. When a student is granted different scholarships within Nova SBE, the funding cannot exceed 70 % of the total amount of the tuition fee for the Master’s program, except in cases where the funding comes entirely from a 100 % social mobility scholarship.

The scholarship prize does not fund the amounts related to the application fee, the first installment of tuition paid as the enrolment fee, the CEMS program, the Double Degree Program, the associated with additional semesters, exchange programs, or Executive Master's programs.

To maintain the awarded merit scholarship, students need to check the merit criteria at the end of their first year of the Master’s program.

Candidates must show interest in a merit scholarship during their application to the Master’s program by filling in the designated area in the application form for this matter.

Nova SBE Westmont Institute of Tourism & Hospitality seeks to support up to 10 highly talented Portuguese students who wish to develop a career by using hospitality principles and mindset as an approach to provide service excellence and drive innovative and sustainable customer-centric organizations.

Eligibility
Portuguese students who enrol in the Area of Expertise of Hospitality & Customer Experience (available for the Master’s in Management or the International Master’s in Management), eligible for a Nova SBE Social Mobility Scholarship, with a GPA equal or above 15 (0-20) at the time of their application.

Value
When a student is granted different scholarships within Nova SBE, the funding cannot exceed 70 % of the total amount of the tuition fee for the master’s program, except in cases where the funding comes entirely from a 100 % social mobility scholarship.

The scholarship is granted for the entire duration of the program. Awarded students who do not complete the Area of Expertise must reimburse the scholarship unless Nova SBE decides otherwise.

The Nova SBE Fellowship for Excellence program identifies the most talented students in the school.

Eligibility

All candidates can apply for this scholarship, regardless of their country of origin.

Value

Fellows can be offered a 50 % reduction on their first-year tuition fees.

The Amélia de Mello Foundation contributes to the country’s educational and research development. Since 1982, the Amélia de Mello Foundation, in partnership with Nova SBE, has been granting scholarships to talented students who need financial aid.

Eligibility

Portuguese students enrolled in the Master’s in Management or Master’s in Economics and who have been awarded a social mobility scholarship.

Application

Candidates will be selected according to their profile and fitting in the Foundation’s values. Selected candidates will receive an email inviting them for a final interview with an Amélia de Mello Foundation representative.

Applications for Amélia de Mello Foundation scholarship will only be considered for the Fall Intake.

When a student is granted different scholarships within Nova SBE, the funding cannot exceed 70 % of the total amount of the tuition fee for the Master’s program, except in cases where the funding comes entirely from a 100 % social mobility scholarship.

The scholarship prize does not fund the amounts related to the application fee, the first installment of tuition paid as the enrolment fee, the CEMS program, the Double Degree Program, the associated with additional semesters, exchange programs, or Executive Master's programs.

Explorer Investments, in partnership with Nova SBE, aims to recognize highly talented students who show commitment and the necessary skills to make a difference as professionals and citizens of a global community.

Eligibility

Students of all nationalities who are enrolled in the Master’s in Finance, International Master’s in Finance, and Master’s in Impact Entrepreneurship & Innovation, who apply for and were awarded a Nova SBE Merit scholarship.

Value

This scholarship covers 100 % of the tuition fee value. Accepted students must pay the first installment of the tuition paid as the enrolment fee to secure their place and be considered for this scholarship.

The scholarship prize does not fund the amounts related to the application fee, the first installment of tuition paid as the enrolment fee, the CEMS program, the Double Degree Program, the associated additional semesters, exchange programs, or Executive Master's Programs.

To maintain the awarded merit scholarship, students need to check the merit criteria at the end of their first year of the Master’s program.

Application

To be considered, candidates must show interest in being considered for the Explorer Excellence Scholarship and the Merit scholarship at the time of their application by filling in the designated area in their application form for this matter.

Selected candidates will receive an email inviting them to submit a three-minute video in English answering the following questions:

  • Tell us about yourself!
  • What made you choose this area (finance /entrepreneurship)?
  • What do you expect from this Master’s degree?
  • Where do you see yourself in ten years?
     

Candidates will be selected according to their determination, ambition, focus, resilience, and innovation and will have a final interview with Explorer Investments.

Applications are open from January 5 to April 28, 2023. The results will be shared with candidates until the deadline for the second installment of the tuition fee.

The Rodrigo Guimarães Institute, created in memory of Rodrigo Guimarães by his family and his lifelong friend, Elizabeth Rothfield, aims to promote education, stimulate a sense of justice and equality, and broaden horizons. In partnership with Nova SBE, the Rodrigo Guimarães Institute created the Rodrigo Guimarães Scholarship to support students who have financial constraints and wish to do more and better.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, students must:

  • Have a Portuguese citizenship or a permanent residence in Portugal
  • Be enrolled in the Master’s in Management or the Master’s in Economics
  • Be the recipient of a Nova SBE Social Mobility Scholarship of 100 %
  • Have a converted GPA equal to or above 14 (0-20)
     

Value

This scholarship covers 100 % of the tuition fee value and provides an allowance for meals and transportation. Accepted students must pay the first installment of the tuition paid as the enrolment fee to secure their place and be considered for this scholarship.

The scholarship prize does not fund the amounts related to the application fee, the CEMS program, the Double Degree Program, the fees associated with additional semesters, exchange programs, or Executive Master's programs.

Application

Candidates must apply for the Rodrigo Guimarães Scholarship and the Nova SBE Social Mobility Scholarship at the time of their application, by filling the designated area in their application form for this matter and submitting the household tax return adequately identified from the previous year. The documents must be originals or copies, accompanied by a sworn translation into English or Portuguese if they are written in any other language. Eligible candidates will receive an email with an invitation to submit a 3-minute video explaining who they are, their motivations, and their goals. Selected candidates will have a final interview with the Rodrigo Guimarães Institute.

Candidates are responsible for checking their emails regularly during this process (including spam and the trash folder).

Applications are open from January 5 to April 28, 2023. The results will be shared with candidates until the deadline for the second installment of the tuition fee.

The Erasmus Santander Scholarships are meant for 2023/24 Bachelor’s and Master’s students who have been allocated to go abroad within the Erasmus + Program.
 

To ensure nothing gets in their way, Santander partnered with several universities, Nova SBE, to provide students with the financial aid of 500€ and 1000€ to allow them to go on Erasmus and follow their global aspirations.

 

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, students must:

  • Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program, according to the Erasmus+ program eligibility criteria
  • Have applied to an Erasmus+ program
  • Show proof of academic success in the previous academic year
     

Specific criteria

  • Proof of the household’s financial situation (IRS declaration): In order to be eligible for this scholarship, the per capita income of the household should be less or equal to 22 times to the IAS value, which, for the 2022/2023 academic year, has a value of 9653,82€
  • Motivation letter in which the candidate must state the importance of the Santander Erasmus Scholarship in their personal and professional journey.
  • Proof of the student’s household financial situation

Under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR – Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência), a set of reforms and investments have been defined that contribute to increasing the participation of young people in higher education, the graduation of the population, and growing research and development in Portugal, reinforcing the goal of converging with Europe over the next decade.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the “Impulso Adultos” scholarship program, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Must have turned 23 years old by the date of enrolment in the programs for which there is provision for awarding scholarships under the financing obtained through the RRP
  • For Master's programs, must have turned 23 years old by the date of enrolment in the programs or in the non-teaching component of the dissertation, work project, or internship report
  • Hold a residence or valid residence permit in Portugal, temporary or permanent, and a Tax ID Number (NIF).
  • Must not be covered by any other similar scholarship or incentive, nor have previously benefited from an incentive scholarship awarded under the "Impulso Adultos"

Candidates must apply for PRR Scholarship at the time of their application by filling in the designated area in their application form for this matter.

The André Sousa Bessa scholarship was created in memory of André Sousa Bessa, an esteemed Nova SBE alumnus, for his achievements and for his engagement with the school.

Eligibility

This scholarship is granted to Portuguese students enrolled in the Master’s in Finance and the International Master’s in Finance, who demonstrate high academic performance and financial constraints, and who are actively engaged in the community.

Value

This scholarship covers 100 % of the tuition fee value.

The scholarship prize does not fund the amounts related to the application fee, the first instalment of tuition paid as the enrolment fee, the CEMS program, the Double Degree Program, the amount value associated with additional semesters, exchange programs, or Executive Master's programs.

Application

Candidates who are the recipient of a Nova SBE social mobility scholarship of 100% are then selected according to their profile and community engagement. Selected candidates will receive an email with an invitation to have a final interview with a representative of the André Sousa Bessa family.

Applications will only be considered for the Fall Intake.

The CEMS Alumni scholarship is a social mobility scholarship awarded by CEMS Alumni who attended the ESCR Alumni Gathering that intends to allow students with financial constraints to pursue their CEMS MIM (Year 2) studies at Nova SBE.

Eligibility

Students with high financial needs are enrolled in the CEMS MIM Year 1 program at Nova SBE.

Value

The scholarship covers part of the tuition fees for the second year of the CEMS program.

Application

The application period starts in November of the CEMS Year 1.

Haddad Foundation wishes to promote joint efforts through education with the aim of encouraging exchange among students of INSPER and Nova SBE.

Eligibility

Students who complete one successful year at Nova SBE under the Progressive Degree Program and are admitted to a Nova SBE Master's program with financial needs.

 

Value

The scholarship covers the payment of the tuition fee when the student is admitted into the Master’s degree.

 

Application
INSPER will select one student to receive a full scholarship. The selection criteria are academic excellence and financial need.

The Calouste Gulbenkian Scholarship was established in a commitment by Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation to provide financial aid to students with limited financial resources, allowing them to fully work on their talent and potential.

Eligibility

Students must have Portuguese nationality, be enrolled in the Master’s in Impact Entrepreneurship & Innovation, and must have a per capita income of their household equal to or less than 12 000€, as demonstrated in their household tax return from the previous year, to be eligible for this scholarship.

Value

The Scholarship funds 100% of the tuition fee.
Applications will only be considered for the Fall Intake. Accepted students must pay the first installment of the tuition paid as the enrolment fee to secure their place and be considered for this scholarship.

Outstanding students from sub-Saharan African countries who have been accepted in a Master’s program at Nova SBE.

This scholarship covers 100 % of the tuition fee value.

To apply, students must send an email to the NOVA SBE NOVAFRICA Knowledge Center with a CV, a letter of enrollment in a Nova SBE program, and a motivation letter.

Who can apply? 

Students enrolled in the CEMS MIM Year 1 program at Nova SBE who demonstrate a high financial need. 

Value
This is a need-based scholarship awarded by BNP Paribas Portugal. The scholarship intends to cover part of the CEMS Year 2 fee. The amount allocated can be divided by up to 3 students. 
The yearly global amount of the scholarship is 9.200€.

  • Be enrolled in the Master’s in Business Analytics
  • Be the recipient of a Nova SBE Social Mobility Scholarship of 100%

Other Scholarships

The Portuguese Government provides financial support to students in need. The funds are provided by DGES (Direção-Geral do Ensino Superior/ Higher-Directorate for Higher Education) and administrated by SASNOVA (Serviços de Ação Social da Universidade NOVA de Lisboa/ Social Action Services). These scholarships are to students in the first and second cycles at NOVA University Lisbon, intending to make it possible for students with reduced financial abilities to begin and continue their studies.

Merit scholarships are awarded by Public and Private Higher Education establishments to students with exceptional performance, regardless of their income, under with the Regulation for the Attribution of Merit Scholarships to Students of Higher Education Institutions.

Nova SBE is a member of the CFA® Institute University Affiliation Program, which is a relevant addition to a Student’s Curriculum Vitae when applying for top-tier finance firms. The CFA® recognition signals to potential students, prospective employers, and the marketplace that Nova SBE Master’s in Finance curriculum is closely tied to professional practice.

Nova SBE will award up to twelve CFA Program Awareness Scholarships to students each fiscal year (i.e., this includes both the February, May, August, and November exams). This scholarship waives the one-time CFA Program enrollment fee and reduces the exam registration fee to US$350 (this fee includes access to the curriculum eBook). Therefore, students pay all-included US$350 for the exam.

For this scholarship, only students of the Master's in Finance are eligible to apply.

The CMA Scholarship allows high-achieving students to complete the CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) program at no cost.

Each year, Nova SBE and IMA (Institute of Management Accountants) will make available tenscholarships that cover the costs of the CMA® program. These scholarships are available for Nova SBE Master's in Finance students. However, Bachelor’s students or students from the Master’s in Management may also apply. The Duarte Tarré Foundation awards scholarships each year to promote the social integration of young students, aged between 18 and 25 years old, who are living in Portugal and are enrolled in a Higher Education institution and have proven financial constraints to promote their educational and professional development.

The Municipality of Cascais has prioritized the investment in social policies to promote education, teaching and vocational training of young people in the municipality.

Thus, the Municipality of Cascais intends to promote the Scholarship Program for Higher Education Students residing in the municipality.

This program aims to provide economic aid to students who wish to pursue their academic education and enter higher education, by awarding scholarships that contribute towards the education costs of students with fewer financial resources, thus contributing to facilitating access to quality higher education.

With the fellowship program, CIRCE wants to bring together young researchers and creatives from all over Europe in order to highlight, question and reshape the innovative power of the creative economies through a wide range of voices and perspectives. Based on the potentials of the cultural and creative economies, the fellows explore and test new ways and creative solutions for dealing with the challenges of our time.

A total of 40 fellowships will be awarded for a period of six months. The fellows get a monthly grant of 3,800 euros as well as support by a mentor from CIRCE.

With the Creative Impact Fund, CIRCE supports the implementation or further development of project ideas that work on innovative solutions to the major issues and challenges of the present and future.

In total, the Creative Impact Fund will fund 13 entrepreneurial innovation projects, including five projects whose solution approaches are field-tested and ready for the next development step (max. 200,000 euros each), and eight project ideas that aim to achieve a proof-of-concept (max. 50,000 euros each).

Awards

Nova SBE has partnered with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation to establish the Prototyping Fund Award to support the development of students’ entrepreneurial ability in the Master’s in Impact and Entrepreneurship Innovation (MIEI).

The prototyping fund combines two types of funding: seed funding, allowing students to develop small but meaningful experiences towards the validation of their idea and the prototype funding, essential to ensure that students can focus on the relationship with customers and suppliers developing value and impact activity rather than constantly searching for funding.

Value

Seed funding | 100 € per group for validation expenses up to a total amount of 3 000 €.

Prototype funding |1000 € per group up to a total amount of 30 000 €.

This award can be accumulated with other types and sources of investment that contribute to the implementation of innovative projects.

Eligibility

Seed funding | Students in groups starting their second semester of the MIEI and registered in the Entrepreneurial project course or another course within the same field. The seed funding will allow students to engage in processes designed to externally validate the key assumptions of their impact entrepreneurial venture.

Prototype funding | Students starting the final semester undertaking the MIEI Field Lab or other Field Lab on related topics. This funding will help students to build prototypes or similar endeavors that advance their project whilst ensuring the creation of impact.

The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Nova SBE created the Gulbenkian Award for Impact Entrepreneurship to support students with innovative and impactful ideas, contributing to the sustainable implementation of projects in Portugal. This initiative aims to stimulate research and development in the field of the impact economy.

Value

The prize value can range from 6000€ per student to 20,000€ per project and is awarded annually.

Eligibility

All students enrolled in the Master’s in Impact Entrepreneurship & Innovation who will be presenting their final Master’s projects in January 2023 are eligible, except those who clearly state that they do not wish to be considered.

The project must either be implemented in Portuguese territory or be beneficial to Portuguese citizens.

Applications

Candidates can apply individually or as a group, and applications must be submitted between January 20 and January 31, 2023. Eligible students will receive instructions on how to apply in their email.

Project evaluation

The following criteria will be taken into consideration when evaluating the projects:

  • The overall quality of the project
  • Relevance in what concerns:
    - Social impact
    - Creativity of the project and the team members in what concerns: Growth potential that can guarantee the creation of employment opportunities; Innovation; Practicability
     

This award can be accumulated with other types and sources of investment that contribute to the implementation of the social innovation project.

The AMBA Award intends to distinguish the Bachelor’s in Management students who enrolled in one of the Nova SBE Master’s programs that show the skills and the commitment to make a difference as professionals and citizens of a global community.

Value

This award will be valued at 1500€. The chosen candidate will also be entitled to three days of unique professional experience in three different companies, in which AMBA Alumni have volunteered for said effect, and three lunches or breakfasts with the CEOs of the same organizations. The chosen candidate will also have the opportunity to have personalized academic development for a year through mentorship sessions with an AMBA alumnus/alumna.

The Amélia de Mello Foundation Distinguished Work Project Award recognizes highly accomplished graduate students who have produced exceptional work projects of outstanding scholarly quality.  

Value

The prize has a value of 500 €.

Eligibility

All students enrolled in a Master’s program who have concluded their work project by June 30, 2023.

The awards are given annually to the best master's work project, following a rotation cycle among the various programs, in the following order:

Year 1: Master’s in Management/International Master’s in Management
Year 2: Master’s in Finance
Year 3: Master’s in Economics/International Development & Public Policy
Year 4: Master’s in Business Analytics/ Impact Entrepreneurship & Innovation

Selection

The criterion for choosing the best master's theses is based on the work project grade.
The committee will select the best master's work project that exemplify exceptional research to receive special recognition as the most outstanding, original contribution to the field at this level.

Fundação José Neves (FJN)

Income Share Agreement

This is an innovative financing model, different from a traditional credit. ISA aims to support Portuguese students in accessing learning programs that enable them to acquire the right skills for the future. Fundação José Neves (FJN) will make the master’s tuition fee full payment directly to Nova SBE.  Students do not need to provide guarantees to benefit from the program. They will only reimburse the payment when one starts working and if one reaches the professional goals that were defined with FJN at the time of the ISA subscription.

Who can apply for ISA FJN?
ISA FJN addresses all Portuguese candidates accepted and enrolled in a master's program at Nova SBE (except for the CEMS MIM program).

How to apply for an ISA FJN?
Students must enrol first in one of the Nova SBE master's programs and then they will be eligible to apply for an ISA FJN.
Application takes place on José Neves Foundation's website, on the "apply" button, and it's a digital and straightforward process, in which the use of the digital mobile key is required.

Nova SBE Continuity Scholarship

The Nova SBE Continuity Scholarship is an amazing opportunity for students who have completed their bachelor's degree at Nova SBE and wish to pursue one of our master's programs. This scholarship enables students to continue their studies, while also promoting social mobility and diversity. With the possibility of covering 50 or 100% of tuition fees, this scholarship can make a difference in your journey toward the future.
