A combination of academic and professional experience give our faculty a keen sense of the challenges faced by business leaders and enables the development of critical thinking to enhance the performance of your organization.

Consulting Projects & Applied Research

Consulting Projects & Applied Research

Developed by Faculty, consulting projects allow for a range of tailor-made solutions to suit companies either through a short-term consultancy package or a long-term partnership.

Field Labs / Work Projects

Field Labs / Work Projects

Under the coordination of a Faculty member with previous consulting experience, 4 to 5 Master students solve corporate challenges.

During the project, students have to define the problem scope, collect and analyze data and present the main findings and actionable suggestions.

Companies name a C level representative, with accountability to make decisions and a representative from the company’s department receiving the project which will help students understand the business specifics, give access to data and help get in touch with other relevant stakeholders.

Finance Students Initiatives

Nova Investment Club

Nova Investment Club

Nova Investment Club was created in 2010 and is entirely run by students from the Master in Finance Program of Nova School of Business and Economics.

Joint enthusiasm for topics out of the world of Finance as well as curiosity about recent developments in financial markets are these student’s main drive.

They engage in a number of activities on and off campus, always with the aim of linking academics to the professional environment.

Nova Students’ Portfolio

Nova Students’ Portfolio

Nova Students Portfolio consists in a team of 16 students which run an active portfolio of $350.000.

The portfolio generates its returns through an initial structure of Risk Parity (between stocks and bonds), with the objective of maximizing the Info Sharpe Ratio (for the established target volatility).

Nova SBE gives a great opportunity to its Finance students, enabling them to have a practical approach on real investment issues and to apply theoretical knowledge and frameworks into real life portfolio management. All functions of the fund (fund manager, market analyst, trader, risk manager…) are performed by students, following a rolling process, week by week.
