The Program

Choose your future

The program is a four-year, full-time structured program delivered in English. Upon acceptance into the PhD program, students will work with their thesis’ supervisors who accompany the research process and development.

The first year is the coursework part of the program, while the last three years are dedicated to research. Students are also expected to take part in the Nova SBE research seminars regularly.

The thesis is the last stage of the PhD. It is composed of three research papers targeted for publication in high-quality peer-reviewed journals.

Final year examinations take place in June (in addition to coursework’ exams).

Requirements to successfully complete the first year:

  • Completing and get a passing grade in all courses and the Annual Assessment

Coursework

Attend and complete the NOVA Doctoral School courses (soft skills).

Exchange Term

Students organize their semester(s) abroad from the second year, which is required to complete the PhD.

Requirements to successfully complete the remaining years until the conclusion of the PhD

  • Passing the Annual Assessment
  • Attending the Nova SBE research seminars
     

Final requirement for the conclusion of the PhD Thesis

The thesis is the last stage of your PhD. It is composed of three research papers you develop throughout your PhD. These are intended to represent independent and original work of a publishable standard.

Students can organize their exchange term starting from the second year. Studying abroad is an excellent opportunity to be exposed to other research ideas and develop your personal network.
