  • Language: Nova SBE’s official language is English. Thus, we expect all applicants to have excellent English language level of competence. We don’t require applicants to upload an English language proficiency proof but highly recommend uploading any proof of English proficiency you might have (certificates like TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge, a proof that your Master program was entirely taught in English issued by the school).
  • Full-time: The PhD programs are full-time. Students must take all courses and research activities as explained in the study plan year by year. Students starting their PhD journey are required to be in Lisbon from mid-August to take bridging courses.
  • Exclusivity: Students are expected to have a full-time commitment to their PhD and under exclusivity terms. As the only exception, starting from the second year, students can take teaching assistant or research assistant duties for up to 25% of a full-time contract.
