Marta Cota
Assistant Professor
Finance

Marta received her Master´s degree in Financial and Business Mathematics from the Department of Mathematics at the University of Zagreb, Croatia, and a degree in Economics and Econometrics from CERGE-EI in Prague, Czech Republic. She then pursued a Ph.D. in Economics, focusing on Household Finance and Macroeconomics. Combining elements of her diverse background, she served as a Teaching Assistant in Computational Summer Schools organized by the University of Oxford and the London School of Economics, under the direction of Wouter den Haan. During her Ph.D. program, she spent several semesters as a visiting researcher at the University of Minnesota, New York University, and Copenhagen Business School. Given her research interests, she was also able to intern as a PhD graduate at the Dutch National Bank.

Marta´s research interests lie at the intersection of Household Finance and Macroeconomics. She is particularly enthusiastic about the micro-to-macro approach, wherein she models financial decision-making at the individual level based on data patterns, and subsequently derives conclusions at the aggregate level. Her work primarily addresses inequality arising from individual biases, search and cognitive frictions, or networks.
