According to the report The state of Portuguese research in economics: 20 years after, Nova School of Business & Economics (Nova SBE) is not only the school with the most researchers in the TOP 30 of the study, but it is also one with the most quoted researchers over the last 20 years.

Researchers Mariana Barbosa and Paulo Guimarães published the report The state of Portuguese research in economics: 20 years after, a document that analyzes the state of Portuguese research in economics, and Nova SBE stands out by being the school with more of its researchers in the TOP 30 of the most quoted. The school also has four professors – Miguel Ferreira, Pedro Santa Clara, Pedro Portugal, and José Tavares in the most cited researchers ranking.

Professor Miguel Ferreira is, according to this study, the number one of most cited researchers over the last 20 tears (2001-2019), a ranking in which professors Pedro Santa Clara, Pedro Portugal, and José Tavares also take part. The document also analyzes the researchers’ productivity in renowned publications, and Nova SBE stands out through Miguel Ferreira, Pedro Santa Clara, João Santos, Pedro Pita Barros, and Pedro Vicente’s contributions.

Published in the Portuguese Economic Journal, a prominent high-quality theoretical, empirical, applied, or policy-oriented research paper publication, the report The state of Portuguese research in economics: 20 years after analyzes the state of Portuguese research in economics in Portugal with a strong emphasis on the 2000–2019 period. Based on publications, citations, and the researchers’ situation, the document shows the number of publications in international journals that show affiliations to Portuguese institutions and publications by Portuguese authors with foreign affiliations. Nova SBE stands out by being the school with the most researchers in the most cited ranking.
