Awards | 08 April 2022 Nova SBE Student Wins CFA Society Portugal Ethics and ESG Award Second Place

CFA Society Portugal has just announced the three big winners of the first edition of the CFA Society Portugal Ethics and ESG Award, and student Thomas Rudolf Maximilian Husse, from Nova School of Business & Economics (Nova SBE), was one of the big winners by getting the second place of this pioneering edition.

To help promote higher education students to develop research papers that promote high ethical standards in the finance sector, CFA Society Portugal established the Ethics and ESG award, whose second place was now awarded to Thomas Rudolf Maximilian Husse, a Nova SBE Master’s in Finance student.

Thomas Husse, who graduated in 2020, conquered this important award with the Master’s thesis Responsible Minus Irresponsible (RMI) – A determinant of equity risk premia? Whose main topic helps promote more efficient and transparent finance performances. When questioned about the award, Thomas underlined that “the Ethics and ESG Award has reinforced my ambition to enhance financial markets through the injection of sustainability. This drive has extended to influence my professional focus and allows me to recognize the immense opportunities vested in the adoption of ESG practices within capital markets and business more generally.”

The Ethics and ESG Award incentivizes any graduating Finance student who has already defended his/her Master’s thesis after January 1, 2019, or is working on it under an ethics-related topic to submit his/her application to win this prestigious award and the award amount of 5000€ (which is distributed among the three big winners, proportionally).

Nova SBE was one of the invited higher education institutions so that students could have at their disposal another tool that fosters their individual and collective potential and proudly sees Thomas receive this important distinction.

The awards will be handed over to the winners in person next May 5, at 6.30 pm, during CFA Society Portugal’s Charter Award Dinner, which will take place at D. Pedro Hotel. Congratulations, Thomas!
