Student Alberto Quinaz Carvalho, current student of the International Master's in Finance and CEMS MIM, from Nova School of Business & Economics (Nova SBE), was one of the big winners of the Global Management Challenge, one of the most prominent strategy and management international competitions.

Global Management Challenge (GMC), an international competition on strategy and management that involves more than 35 countries, organized its 41st edition. Alberto Quinaz Carvalho, a Nova SBE student, won GMC's international final's first place alongside Alexandre Costa Amaro (FEUP) and Beatriz Martins da Silva (FEP) for simulating their hypothetical company's performance to possible investors.

Alberto, Alexandre, and Beatriz formed the "IT SECTOR/ABAA" team and won the Portuguese final and GMC's international final, which took place in Russia with circa 750,000 people from all over the world. With this victory, Portugal won this renowned competition once more, something that hadn't happened for 23 years.

This Portuguese initiative, launched in 1980 and ever since organized by Simuladores e Modelos de Gestão (SDG) and Expresso, consists of an interactive business simulation in which each team manages a company aiming to obtain the best investment performance in the market that it is placed.

Alberto Quinaz Carvalho is an International Master's in Finance and CEMS MIM Student at Nova SBE. He is also a Fellow of the Nova SBE Fellowship for Excellence scholarship and is also an Invited Teaching Assistant at the school. When questioned about the importance of this award, he highlighted, "I think that it's another experience that enriches [the academic journey], another "quality stamp." I'm proud to represent Portugal on such a competitive level and win this 23 years later. Moreover, it's also proof of the quality of Nova's [SBE's] academic training."
