Society | 29 June 2023 Nova SBE Hosts Town Hall in Anticipation of the State of the Nation Debate

Nova SBE will host a Town Hall meeting to reflect on and anticipate the State of the Nation Debate on July 4 and 5.

As a school that promotes dialogue and reflection, with a fundamental role in the education of future leaders, Nova SBE continues to be at the center of the discussion for the development of a more just and inclusive society, proving its role as a center for social dialogue on the main socio-economic and political issues that dictate the day-to-day lives of the Portuguese society.

The initiative, promoted in partnership with CNN Portugal, will bring to the Carcavelos Campus the Ministers of Economy, Finance, Labor and Social Security, Education, Culture, and the Minister of State and Parliamentary Affairs for an open debate, with an audience composed mainly of faculty and students of Nova SBE, on the central issues that ensure a better future and put Portugal on the path to modernity.

The meetings, broadcast live on CNN Portugal starting at 9.30 pm, will allow Nova SBE faculty and students to ask questions and debate directly with the ministers the measures and reforms that are being implemented in several areas, fostering an open discussion that promotes the inclusion of civil society in the State of the Nation Debate scheduled for July 20.

'Nova SBE is an entrepreneurial school that has always encouraged discussion and reflection. We know that we have an important role in the education of future leaders, but also in the development of a more just and inclusive society, so we welcome this initiative with open arms' says Pedro Oliveira (Dean of Nova SBE), adding 'bringing to our community the opportunity to question and discuss directly with the main actors of change in Portugal is a unique opportunity that we are giving to civil society to anticipate and participate in the debate on the State of the Nation'.

On July 4, the meeting will be led by Pedro Santos Guerreiro (Executive Director of CNN Portugal) and Ana Sofia Cardoso (journalist), who welcome Minister of the Economy and Maritime Affairs (António Costa Silva), the Minister of Finance (Fernando Medina), and the Minister of Labor, Solidarity, and Social Security (Ana Mendes Godinho).

July 5 will bring together the Minister of Education (João Costa), the Minister of Culture (Pedro Adão e Silva), and the Minister of State and Parliamentary Affairs (Ana Catarina Mendes) in a debate led by Paulo Magalhães (Politics Editor of CNN Portugal) and Ana Sofia Cardoso (journalist).
