  • Sustainability

As part of the degree requirement, students must carry out a work project (thesis) in their final semester. There are three formats available:

Field Labs

Students work in groups studying a company/sector, integrating distinct knowledge areas. Most work is team based, although students must present individual reports on specific developments around the core research program.

Directed Research Internship

Individual dissertation carried out in the organization where the student is doing an internship. The student will have an advisor from Nova SBE and a Company tutor. The project must be approved by the Academic Director.

Directed Research*

Individual dissertation where students showcase their knowledge and expertise by investigating a research problem of scientific nature in a relevant area of interest.

* This format is generally reserved for those intending on pursuing their studies.

Among all the pressing issues our world is facing, health is a major and urgent one that our students can tackle thanks to our Healthcare Innovation Specialization, powered by HealthEConnect, a project funded by the European Commission and in collaboration with Nova Medical School, Copenhagen Business School, Patient Innovation, Startup Europe Regions Network, and the BioInnovation Institute in Denmark.

The specialization leverages on medical scientific knowledge (lectured at Nova Medical School), value-based healthcare, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

As a result of this diverse skill set, real-world perspective, and collaboration opportunities with the health industry of Lisbon and Copenhagen, students are equipped to become impactful entrepreneurs and innovators within the healthcare sector and well-being.

Health Innovation Specialization Electives *

  • Aging (lectured by Nova Medical School)
  • Economics of Health and Health Care (lectured by Nova SBE)
