João Santos currentlyserves as Senior Vice President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Priorto joining the bank in 2000; he was an Economist at the Bank for InternationalSettlements and previously; an Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland.
His research interestsinclude financial systems design; banking; banking regulation and corporatefinance. His articles have been published in various academic journalsincluding the Journal of Finance; Review of Financial Studies; Journal of FinancialEconomics; Journal of Monetary Economics; Journal of Accounting and Economics;Journal of Banking and Finance; European Economic Review; Journal of FinancialIntermediation; Journal of Money Credit and Banking; and in various FederalReserve publications. João Santos is a Fellow of the Wharton FinancialInstitutions Center since 2003; and a Member of the Editorial Board of theJournal of Money; Credit and Banking; Journal of Financial Intermediation;Journal of Financial Economic Policy and of the Journal of Financial ServicesResearch. He has also participated in numerous scientific and programcommittees.
