Ana is a Technical Consultant at Bank of Portugal. She is currently Advisor at the Governor’s cabinet, covering banking and EU policy, including monetary affairs.
Previously, she served as Chief of Staff for the Secretary of State for Finance and Deputy Director-General responsible for European Affairs at the Ministry of Finance. In this role, she coordinated the work on the Banking Union and the crisis management framework at both the Eurogroup and the Council of the European Union.
She built on her experience at the Portuguese Permanent Representation of Portugal to the EU, where she negotiated banking and financial markets regulations. This included the regulation that established the single supervisory mechanism.
Before moving to Brussels, she conducted research with articles published in the Journal of Mathematical Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance, and Economics Letters. She was a visiting scholar at the Columbia University and had specific collaborations with international schools, notably Boston University and Fundação Getulio Vargas.
Ana holds a BSc in Economics from Nova SBE and the curriculum part of a Masters in Statistics and optimization from FCT/Nova. She holds a PhD in Economics/specialization in Finance from Nova SBE.
