Catarina Branco's, a Nova School of Business & Economics (Nova SBE) student, Master’s thesis was distinguished with Banco de Portugal’s Silva Lopes award at the 10th "Desenvolvimento económico português no espaço europeu" [Portuguese Economic Development in the European Context] Conference.
On November 16, Banco de Portugal's 10th "Desenvolvimento económico português no espaço europeu" [Portuguese Economic Development in the European Context] Conference took place. This is an annual event with renowned speakers who are invited to sit down and discuss current and pressing issues of the Portuguese economy in the European context.
Given the current pandemic, the conference this year was online and focused mainly on "A desigualdade no contexto da pandemia" [Inequality During the Pandemic]. One of the most prized moments of this event is awarding the best Master's thesis in Economics and Management produced in Portuguese universities.
Catarina Branco, a Master's in Economics student at Nova SBE, was one of the winners of this award, which is attributed in partnership with the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation, with her thesis The Impact of Highway Tolls on Business Sector Performance – Evidence from a Natural Experiment, supervised by Professor José Tavares.
Aside from the awarded Master's thesis, Nova SBE was also represented by another Master's thesis, which was shortlisted. This ceremony and its awards continue to recognize the talent that Nova SBE produces.
Congratulations, Catarina!
