After 73 innovative projects were submitted – which were thought-out to help solve some of the most pressing issues of nowadays regarding energy, food, shelter, space, water, natural disasters, health, prosperity, and security – the winners of the SingularityU Portugal Global Impact Challenge were announced in a ceremony that took place February 26th in Centro Cultural de Cascais.

From this initiative, which is a product of the partnership between Singularity University with Beta-i, Câmara Municipal de Cascais, and Nova School of Business & Economics, two major winners were chosen: SkinSoul – a healthcare platform that has an app that embodies artificial intelligence to reduce the time of the skin cancer diagnosis; and Mov.e – which consists in the digital transformation of the electricity contract so that users can access, anytime and anywhere with safety and privacy, at a competitive price due to the blockchain technology. With this challenge, the winners won the unique opportunity of being part of a ten-week program with Singularity University’s team at the SU Ventures Incubator Program, located at NASA Ames Research Center, in Silicon Valley (EUA).

However, the winners’ announcement was not the only one made. Next October 8th and 9th, Cascais will host the SingularityU Portugal Summit Cascais. This will be an unprecedented two-day event, which will take place in Nova SBE’s Grand Auditorium, located at the new campus (in Carcavelos), and which will offer an intensive program for executives, entrepreneurs, and financial and political decision-makers.

Several international leaders and renowned personalities from areas such as science, technology, and innovation will be in Cascais to discuss subjects such as the rapid advancement of technology and its impact on industries, businesses, and the global economy in the future.
