Millennium bcp and The Nova School of Business & Economics (Nova SBE) are joining forces to launch the Artificial Intelligence Academy, an initiative aimed at equipping more than 6,500 Bank employees with AI skills, with a special focus on generative AI.
Through the AI Together program – Artificial Intelligence Within Everyone's Reach – this pioneering initiative aims to accelerate the digital transformation of the banking sector in Portugal by promoting a culture of innovation, efficiency, and responsibility in the use of emerging technologies.
“We are living through a time of transitioning to a new era whose general outlines are still being defined, but where it is already certain that Artificial Intelligence will assume enormous relevance in the way we inform ourselves, learn, make decisions and, above all, how we organize ourselves to better serve our customers,” said Miguel Maya, CEO of Millennium bcp. “We use technology to empower people and reinforce the Bank’s culture of rigor and service excellence, and we know that success requires preparation. The challenge of preparing for this new era requires the involvement of all areas of the Bank, so the transmission of knowledge must be comprehensive, inclusive and well-founded, which led us to celebrate this strategic partnership with Nova SBE to train and strengthen the skills of Millennium bcp’s professionals.”
The program will run through 2027, with a blended structure (asynchronous online, synchronous, and in-person training), adapted to different professional profiles, from operational roles to members of the Board of Directors.
“We are experiencing the beginning of a new technological revolution. With this Academy, Millennium bcp and Nova SBE are assuming a leading role in Portugal and Europe, demonstrating that it is possible to combine innovation with responsibility and knowledge with impact,” said Pedro Oliveira, Dean of Nova SBE.
As part of the agreement, a major conference will be held in early 2026 on the Nova SBE campus, bringing together international leaders from the AI community, academics, industry experts, and strategic decision-makers to discuss the impact of AI on the financial sector and society.
The initiative is also supported by the Digital Data Design Institute at Nova SBE, and NOVA Medical School, affiliated with the eponymous Institute of Harvard Business School, reinforcing the commitment to academic excellence and global innovation.
