The study Not so sweet: The impact of the Portuguese soda tax on producers by Judite Gonçalves, João Pereira dos Santos and Roxanne Merenda, master student in Economics, which studied the impact of a tax on soft drinks on producers, has just been released. The investigators concluded that the introduction of the soda tax led to a drop in sales and less profit. Still, the impact was accommodated by companies without significant cost cuts or impacts on the workforce.
