Since 2019, Björn Richter has been an assistant professor of finance at Pompeu Fabra University and an affiliated professor at the Barcelona School of Economics. Previously, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Macrohistory Lab at the University of Bonn. He obtained his PhD from Goethe University Frankfurt.

His main research interests are in financial economics, with an emphasis on banking, financial crises, and international finance.
