Leadership for Impact Knowledge Center

Milton de Sousa is Associate Professor at Nova School of Business & Economics, where he also served as the director of international development and academic director of CEMS MiM. He co-founded the Leadership for Impact Knowledge Center at the School. His topics focus on the intersection between leadership, organizations, and technology, particularly on how Artificial Intelligence (AI) will affect the future of work and management practice. His research is particularly focused on the topic of servant leadership. Recently, as part of a collaboration with Nova SBE, he was the interim Chief Operating and People Officer of Health AI, a Geneva-based organization dedicated to regulating Artificial Intelligence in Health.

In addition to the classes and training he provides on leadership and AI, he is the academic director of several executive programs, including Managing with AI, AI for HR and Talent Management, and Empowering Leaders with AI. This interest in technology and management is a result of his academic and professional journey. He started his career in 1998 as an Electrical and Computer Engineer in the semiconductor industry, also holding various management positions at an international level. With his MBA, he transitioned to the consulting world where he managed various projects in the field of innovation, strategy, and human resources management with large companies. It was during this time that he decided to create his own company dedicated to training and leadership, taking the opportunity to pursue his doctorate in management. He also served as chairman of the Estoril Conferences for several years and was Director of the MBAs at the Rotterdam School of Management. In 2015, he joined Nova SBE to support its international growth.

He has a PhD from the Rotterdam School of Management, an MBA from the University of Bradford, and a degree in Electrotechnical and Computer Engineering from the University of Porto. Of his nearly 30-year career, 14 were spent in the Netherlands, where he worked at Philips Semiconductors, Hay Group, and the Rotterdam School of Management.

Milton is an experienced speaker in small and large events, including a TEDx, TV and Radio. He is now co-host of a radio program and podcast on Leadership at Observador.
