Helena Martins has been a lecturer in Higher Education since 2008, having collaborated with multiple institutions, from the Polytechnic of Porto (School of Health, School of Accounting, School of Industrial Engineering and Management), University of Porto (Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Economics) and Porto Business School, to the Polytechnic of Viana do Castelo (School of Education), University of Coimbra (Faculty of Economics and Management), ISMAI, etc. She currently teaches at NOVA SBE and the Lusófona Unversity in Lisbon (Faculty of Economics and Organizational Sciences).

She is a consultant in Human Resources Management, especially in the area of training and development, with clients mostly in the area of IT.

Helena Martins is passionate about developing soft skills for students in higher education and professionals, especially in intercultural settings, her research interests focus on the type of competencies needed, with an emphasis on crisis contexts and change management in the global context.
