Catarina Alvarez holds a Ph.D. degree in economics from Nova School of Business and Economics. She worked as an economic adviser for the Portuguese Parliament. Previously, she was a predoctoral research fellow at the University of Barcelona and Institut d’Economia de Barcelona (IEB).
Catarina was also a visiting researcher at CES Center for Economic Studies (Munich); ifo Institute, Center for Macroeconomics and Surveys (Munich); Max-Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance, Department of Public Economics (Munich); and at the Economics department of the University of Mannheim, in Germany.
Her research interests lie in the fields of Public Economics and Political Economy, with a particular focus on Taxation and Fiscal Federalism. Catarina has been a Teaching Assistant and Grader for several courses at Nova SBE and at the University of Barcelona.
