Nova School of Business & Economics is hosting its first edition of the Nova Finance Week. This is an event organized by the Nova Students’ Union, alongside the Nova Investment Club, and it is powered by KPMG, a renowned consultancy company. Throughout this week, a number of speakers are coming to Nova SBE to give lectures on finance and investing. Oxy Capital, KPMG, and the CFA Lisbon Institute are the main companies attending and hosting targeted sessions at the Finance Week.

The week will thus consist of:

 

November 13th

“How to Become a Managing Director with KPMG” – at 05:30 p.m., in room A14

This session will give students the opportunity to know more about the speakers' careers. The invited speakers' will give students career advice and tell them what are the necessary skills to succeed in the world. There will also be time for Q&A, and afterwards, there will be a coffee break so people can network.

 

November 14th

“M&A Competiton,” at 12:30 p.m., in room 209 

 KPMG is organizing an amazing M&A competition. KPMG will present a case to all teams who show up and are interested. After KPMG presents it, all teams must come up with a solution and deliver it on November 17th, at Nova Student Union’s Headquarters. Each team will pitch the case to a jury. The presentation should be 10 minutes long. At the end, the jury will announce the winners. Each team should have 4 to 5 members. There is a 250€ prize to the winning team plus a surprise that KPMG will reveal on the day. To enroll, please register here.

 

“Private Equity with Oxy Capital” – at 05:30 p.m., in room A120

What is Private Equity? Many of Nova SBE students ask this question frequently. So Nova Finance Week organized a session where two Oxy Capital speakers can answer this, and all questions students may have regarding this matter. They will not only talk about Private Equity but also share what a day in their lives is like. 

 

November 15th

“New Technologies in the Finance World” – at 05:30 p.m., in room A224

Did you ever think that there would be a robot entitled to citizenship? Do you have numerous concerns and questions about the role of new technologies in Finance? With this session you will have the opportunity to talk about technologies and the role they play in Finance.

 

November 16th

Summer and Spring Internships (powered by NIC)” – at 11:00 a.m., in room A13

Many students are interested in doing an internship and don’t know where. Some of them are looking for an opportunity here, but some of them want to go abroad. If Summer and Spring internships are what you are looking for, then this is the right session for you. Here you will learn all you want to learn and hear first-hand from people who had this experience.

 

CFA Lisbon Presentation & Scholarship” – at 05:30 p.m., in room 209

The CFA Institute will be at Nova Finance Week to explain how they work and how students can apply for their scholarships.

 

November 17th

On this day, the teams that showed up at the M&A Competition will present their solutions to KPMG’s case, and the jury will announce which one is the winning team.
