Miguel Ferreira, BPI | Fundação "la Caixa" Professor of Responsible Finance, Academic Director of Nova SBE Finance Knowledge Center, and president of the Scientific Council at Nova School of Business & Economics (Nova SBE) has been appointed the new President of the European Finance Association (EFA), the renowned professional association of financial economists, for the year 2020.

Founded in 1974, EFA is a global network of professionals involved in high-level research, study, teaching, and practice in the area of Finance. Faculty from several international business schools such as Bocconi University, Imperial College London, Stanford University, among others, is part of its Executive Committee.

Miguel Ferreira will be the representative and chief spokesperson for the Association and will chair its General Assembly. He will also deal with day-to-day operations and serve as a liaison between the Association and the American Economic Association, the American Finance Association, the International Financial Management Association, and others.

Miguel Ferreira is a research associate of the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI), a research fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), and a European Research Council (ERC) grant recipient.

Every year, EFA organizes one of the most well-known finance conferences in the world to empower ideas and impart innovative research. Nova SBE was responsible for organizing its 46th edition, which took place from August 21 to August 24, 2019. 750 renowned researchers and faculty came to Nova SBE to discuss pressing issues for Finance, the industry, and society.
