Luis F. Martinez is an Associate Professor of Marketing and Behavioral Science, with Habilitation (“Agregação”) in Management, at Nova School of Business and Economics (Nova SBE), Universidade Nova de Lisboa, where he served as Academic Co-Director of the Master’s in Management program (2019-2023).
He obtained his Ph.D. in Social and Behavioral Sciences from Tilburg University. He has held visiting scholar positions at MIT Sloan, VSE Prague, EM Strasbourg, and LUISS Guido Carli Rome. Before joining Nova SBE, he was an Assistant Professor at the Business School of ISCTE – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa and an Integrated Researcher at its Business Research Unit (BRU-ISCTE).
He serves as Senior Editor of Electronic Commerce Research (Springer Nature) and the Journal of Organizational Effectiveness: People and Performance (Emerald), and as Senior Special Issues Editor of Electronic Commerce Research and Applications (Elsevier). He is also an Associate Editor of the Journal of Consumer Behaviour (Wiley) and Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal (Emerald), and he sits on the editorial boards of several other leading journals.
His work has been published across a wide range of academic outlets and has also reached practitioner audiences through leading platforms such as Harvard Business Review and The Conversation. He currently serves on the evaluation panel for project funding in Economic Sciences at the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).
