Luís Teles Morais is a PhD Candidate in Economics and Finanças, and Teaching Assistant at Nova School of Business and Economics. He will be attending the AFA/ASSA and EJME for the 2025/2026 Academic Job Market.

His research lies at the intersection of macroeconomics and finance, with a focus on housing, household finance, and the effects of monetary and fiscal policy. His Job Market Paper studies how mortgage repayment structures constrain homeowners' consumption and saving, and their implications for household welfare and the distribution of wealth. During his PhD, he has been a visiting scholar at New York University’s Stern School of Business, Baruch College (CUNY), and Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He has also worked at the European Central Bank, developing datasets on the distribution of income and wealth in the euro area, and, before the PhD, at the Institute of Public Policy–Lisbon, where he served as executive director.

Job Market Paper Title: “Mortgage structure, household saving and the wealth distribution”
