PhD in Communication Sciences from Catholic University of Portugal (2016); Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Human Sciences of Catholic University of Portugal (since 2013); coordinator of Advanced Training in Reputation Management and Crisis Communication and coordinator of the Post-Graduation course in Strategic Communication of the School of Post-Graduate and Advanced Training of the Faculty of Human Sciences o Catholic University of Portugal. Between 2014 and 2016 she was a visiting professor at the Escola Superior de Comunicação Social, at the Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa and between 1999 and 2018 she was an Assistant Professor at the Instituto Superior de Comunicação Empresarial (ISCEM). Mariana is also the Managing Director, in Portugal, of the Omnicom Public Relations Group, part of one of the world's largest communication groups (NYSE: OMC), in which she is also a member of the executive committee for the Iberian Peninsula.

Main research areas: public relations, crisis communication, reputation, media relations and influencers. She is the author of several publications oncrisis communication and public relations.
