Victoire Girard is a research faculty at Nova School of Business and Economics, and a resident member at NOVAFRICA. Her main research fields are Political Economy, Development Economics, and Environmental and Natural Resources Economics. Her current projects document the impact of natural resources on conflicts, identities fragmentation, deforestation, and local development, in the African continent. Her research is published in leading economic journals such as the Economic Journal or the Journal of Development Economics. Prior to Nova, Victoire has taught in the Universities of Orléans and Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, where she earned her PhD in economics. She has been an invited researcher at the economics departments of Brown University and of the University of Geneva, and she has collaborated as a consultant with the United Nations and the World Bank.
