Faculty Development & Support

Faculty development is a strategic priority at TEIC, supporting the continuous improvement of teaching practices and pedagogical innovation. Through our two vertical teams, Lift and Bridge, we offer a range of initiatives designed to develop and support faculty at different stages of their academic journey.

These initiatives are grounded in evidence-informed approaches, peer collaboration, practical experimentation and real-world experiences. Together, they contribute to building a culture of teaching excellence, innovation, and sharing practices across the institution.

The Educational Development Program for Faculty is TEIC’s core initiative for faculty, offering a structured and flexible pathway for continuous pedagogical growth. 

It links internal pedagogical training aligned with international accreditation standards, self-directed learning tools, and the support of a Research Center network, dedicated to advancing knowledge and innovation in economics and management in higher education.  

This program combines different learning formats – formal and informal – providing continuous opportunities for updating, experimentation and pedagogical reflection throughout the academic year. Faculty members are empowered to follow personalized pathways that best align with their individual needs, teaching contexts, and career aspirations. 

Based on a logic of progression and flexibility, the program responds to the various stages of the teaching career, promoting the acquisition and consolidation of essential skills for teaching in higher education, with a special focus on the quality of learning experiences and the success of students.  

 

Pedagogical Innovation

Pedagogical innovation is a central pillar of TEIC’s mission. Through the Learning Innovation & Faculty Training (LIFT) team, we support the evolution of teaching practices towards more student-centered and competency-based approaches, aligned with the changing demands of higher education.

Working closely with faculty, LIFT supports the design and continuous improvement of learning experiences that are active, inclusive, and impactful. Grounded in evidence-informed approaches, this work contributes to strengthening teaching quality and enhancing student learning outcomes.

At Nova SBE, learning methodologies are designed to position students as active participants in the learning process. Approaches such as project-based learning, flipped classroom, case studies, and simulations help connect theory with practice, fostering critical thinking and the development of transferable skills. 

LIFT supports faculty in adopting these approaches through pedagogical guidance, professional development initiatives, and access to speciaized resources. This enables the effective design and implementation of innovative teaching practices, contributing to a more engaging and dynamic learning experience. 

The LIFT team provides pedagogical consultancy to support faculty and academic units in improving teaching and learning practices. This includes identifying pedagogical needs, redesigning courses, and aligning learning outcomes, teaching strategies, and assessment methods. 

Through an evidence-informed and practice-oriented approach, LIFT supports the development of tailored pedagogical solutions across different contexts. This includes curriculum design, the integration of digital tools, and the application of active learning strategies, contributing to continuous improvement and informed decision-making. 

Instructor Training Programs

TEIC offers a range of development opportunities designed to support faculty throughout their teaching journey. From foundational training and practical workshops to peer learning and teaching

Ignite is Nova SBE pedagogical program designed primarily for early-career faculty and teaching assistants, while remaining open to all interested faculty. It provides structured training in the fundamentals of teaching in higher education. 

Through a blended learning format, the program combines theory and practice, enabling participants to apply what they learn directly in their courses. It focuses on key areas such as active learning methodologies, use of digital tools, course design, and aligned-assessment strategies. 

BEEP Workshops are practical, hands-on sessions focused on applying teaching methodologies, tools, and strategies in real classroom contexts. 

Topics include the use of digital platforms, integration of AI in teaching, and the design of effective assessment methods. These sessions promote experimentation, skill development, and the sharing of practices among faculty. 

BEEP Teaching Dialogues provide a space for collaborative reflection and exchange among faculty. 

These sessions encourage open discussion around teaching practices, allowing faculty to share experiences, explore challenges, and learn from one another in a supportive and informal environment.

BEEP Seminars are dedicated to showcasing innovative teaching practices developed by faculty. 

By sharing real experiences and approaches — such as simulations, storytelling, or project-based learning — these sessions promote peer learning and reinforce a culture of innovation in teaching. 

The Peer Observation Program supports faculty development through structured peer observation and feedback. 

Organizsed in cycles throughout the academic year, the program creates a space for faculty to observe teaching practices, exchange feedback, and reflect on their approaches. It fosters a culture of collaboration, trust, and continuous improvement.

EdTech & Digital Learning

At TEIC, we support the strategic integration of digital technologies into teaching, enhancing learning experiences and enabling innovative pedagogical practices. 

Through the Learning Innovation & Faculty Training (LIFT) team, we work with faculty to ensure that the use of technology is aligned with learning objectives and contributes meaningfully to student engagement and success. 

LIFT supports faculty in the design and development of digital learning experiences across different teaching formats. This includes guidance on creating multimedia content, structuring courses on digital platforms, and integrating interactive resources that promote active student participation. 

In addition, LIFT provides access to and support for a range of educational technologies and platforms: from virtual learning environments to tools for assessment, collaboration, and content creation. This ensures that technology is used in a purposeful and effective way, reinforcing teaching quality and pedagogical innovation.
