An international consultant, professor, and researcher, António Alvarenga brings over 20 years of experience in designing future strategies, scenario planning, innovation, and organizational strategy.

He is the Founder and CEO of ALVA R&C – a consultancy specialized in Strategic Foresight – through which he has collaborated with over 100 public and private organizations and trained more than 5,000 senior executives worldwide. ALVA R&C is a certified partner of the Global Innovation Management Institute (GIMI) and was responsible for designing the globally recognized Future Foresight Certification.

His teaching approach combines critical thinking, strategic storytelling, and complex scenario simulations, always with a focus on preparing leaders to navigate uncertainty and drive transformation. He is also known for integrating artistic and expressive practices into executive education, creating immersive and transformative learning experiences.

His research focuses on foresight, innovation, and strategy, with publications in journals such as Technological Forecasting and Social Change, The International Journal of Management Science, and The International Journal for Equity in Health.

António Alvarenga maintains a strong commitment to developing visionary leaders, equipping them to anticipate change, navigate complexity, and lead meaningful transformation — using imagination and action as practical levers for shaping desirable futures.

António holds a PhD in Management Sciences from Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University (France) and has completed international training in Strategic Foresight at institutions such as PREST (University of Manchester), Futuribles, Coates & Jarret, Outsights, and Fuld & Company. He earned his degree in Economics from the University of Porto and a Master’s in European Economic Studies from the College of Europe (Bruges).
