Filipe Alfaiate is an award-winning entrepreneur, international consultant, and lecturer with over 25 years of experience across 35 countries. Operating at the intersection of business, government, and impact, he combines a global outlook with a hands-on approach focused on delivering results in business projects, public policy, and sustainable development.

At Nova SBE, he serves as Dean’s Senior Adviser for Strategic Initiatives, with a special focus on the school’s international and public affairs strategy. He previously served as Executive Director of the Nova SBE Public Policy Institute.

Filipe is part of the Leadership for Impact Knowledge Center and teaches courses in the master’s programs such as Sustainability & Impact, Policy in Practice, International Entrepreneurship, and Shared Value Creation, as well as a large-scale experiential seminar on Global Citizenship, required for over 2,000 students each year.

His profile bridges theory and practice, bringing real-world experience into the classroom through tested methodologies, real cases, and strategic insights on how to embed purpose into business, and how companies can engage effectively with public policy. His multisector and multicultural experience helps leaders and managers design strategies that generate both long-term impact and competitive advantage.

Before joining academia, he led entrepreneurial initiatives in emerging markets and collaborated with governments and international organizations to design local development strategies and impact business models. He strongly believes that business (rather than charity) is a powerful instrument for change.

Driven by the conviction that global challenges require leaders who act with both ambition and responsibility, Filipe Alfaiate is dedicated to developing executives capable of using the power of markets to transform realities with purpose and lasting impact.

Filipe Alfaiate holds an MPA (Master in Public Administration) from Harvard University, an LLM in International Law from King’s College London, and an LLB in Law from the University of Lisbon.
