PhD in Finance from ISCTE. He is a Guest Assistant Professor at Nova IMS and Senior Economist at the European Banking Authority (EBA-UE, Paris) where he coordinates several EU projects and is the EBA representative in the Scientific Research Group of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS); in the European Commission Insolvency Regimes Discussion Group; and in Basel III implementation work, etc. In 2024 he is the Editor-in-Chief of EBA-Staff Papers. His academic works have been published in renowned journals, such as the Review of Financial Studies and the Review of Accounting Studies, among others. He is also a scientific reviewer for several renowned academic journals such as the Journal of Banking & Finance. He was an economist at the European Central Bank (ECB) and senior economist-consultant at Banco de Portugal, working in the areas of Financial Supervision, Financial Research and Risk Management. He also has several years of academic experience at other universities (University of York, UK; Aarhus University, DK) and in executive training programs through The World Bank projects. Teaches in the areas of Finance and Banking.
