At Nova SBE, he holds the Haddad Chair in Entrepreneurship and serves as Academic Director of the Haddad Entrepreneurship Institute. In this role, he leads initiatives that connect academic research, teaching, and social impact, including an annual conference on Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the supervision of master’s theses, and the development of a Certification in Entrepreneurship.
Rui Silva began his academic journey with a degree in Economics at Nova SBE, where he later returned to contribute to the school’s international reputation for excellence in research and teaching.
He previously taught Finance at London Business School and collaborated with renowned international scholars in the field. He also taught at the University of Chicago, where he completed his PhD and MA in Economics.
His research - focused on how financial and organizational structures influence corporate behaviour, innovation, and performance - has been published and presented internationally in leading journals such as The Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, and Management Science.
