MADALENA CALLÉ LUCAS is responsible for the International, Policy and Institutional Relations area for Sustainability at EDP – Energias de Portugal, where she also coordinates the Net Zero Acceleration Task Force initiative. Represents the company in global Sustainability forums (such as the UN Climate Summits) and in various international organizations and initiatives. She is vice-president of the Climate Change and Decarbonisation Group at Eurelectric; member of the Policy Advisory Group of the We Mean Business Coalition and member of the Executive Secretariat of BCSD Portugal. She has worked for the last 18 years in the areas of energy, climate change, sustainability and finance. During the Portuguese Presidency of the EU, in 2007, she was assistant adviser at the Permanent Mission of Portugal to the United Nations in New York. Between 2010 and 2012, she was an advisor to members of different Portuguese governments, on international affairs, climate, energy and the sea. From 2012 to 2017, she was the National Coordinator of the European Economic Area Grants, a public funding mechanism that supported several projects in the areas of the sea, renewable energy, NGO capacity building, adaptation to climate change, gender equality, cultural and natural heritage and the arts. She has a degree in Law from Universidade Católica Portuguesa, a postgraduate degree in Management and Business Law from Universidade Nova de Lisboa and a Master’s (LL.M) in European Legal Studies from Colégio da Europa, in Bruges.”
