At the invitation of the Nova SBE Health Economics & Management Knowledge Center, the Regional Secretary for Health and Civil Protection of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, Micaela Fonseca de Freitas, and the Regional Secretary for Equipment and Infrastructure, Pedro Rodrigues, visited Nova School of Business and Economics in Carcavelos yesterday. The Madeiran delegation also included the President of SESARAM, EPERAM, Herberto Jesus, and the Regional Director for Social Equipment and Conservation, Sílvia Vieira. Representing the Knowledge Center were Academic Director Professor Pedro Pita Barros and Executive Director Nádia Ahmad.
The main objective of this visit to Lisbon was to deepen knowledge and explore innovative solutions for the future Central and University Hospital of Madeira, currently under construction — a project of vital importance for the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
On the Nova SBE campus, the Madeiran delegation was introduced to the latest technological advances and best practices that could be applied to the new hospital, ensuring excellent conditions for both healthcare professionals and patients. The visit also allowed for in-depth discussions on the sector’s challenges and the future of health professions.
The Central and University Hospital of Madeira is designed to be affiliated with the University and foster the development of medical sciences. During the meeting, the creation of a space dedicated to innovation, research, and support for health-related startups was also discussed, reinforcing the importance of synergies between academia, public institutions, and the business sector.
