The project Locating Evidence: How Clinical Trial Geography Shapes Innovation Uptake and Evidence Quality, sits at the intersection of health economics, innovation, and public policy. It examines how the global distribution of clinical trials influences the adoption of innovative therapies and the quality of evidence used in healthcare decision-making.
By combining economic theory with causal empirical analysis, the research will generate valuable insights for policymakers seeking to strengthen clinical research ecosystems, foster the diffusion of innovation, and promote more equitable access to healthcare.
The application was supported by Pedro Pita Barros, Professor of Economics, member of the European Commission’s “Expert panel on effective ways of investing in health”, and holder of the BPI and Fundação "la Caixa" Chair in Health Economics.
