Nova SBE has once again distinguished itself among the world’s leading schools of management, economics, and finance by joining the elite Tier 1 group of the Financial Times Masters in Finance 2026 ranking. This distinction recognizes institutions with the strongest overall performance, reflecting consistent excellence across the various indicators evaluated by the Financial Times.
Within this context, Nova SBE’s International Master’s in Finance has achieved 8th place worldwide, consolidating the School’s position among the world’s top 10 finance programs and reinforcing its status as one of Europe’s leading references in finance education, surpassed only by French business schools.
This achievement further strengthens Nova SBE’s presence among the international elite of finance programs and reinforces its national leadership, having ranked first in Portugal for more than a decade.
Nova SBE achieved strong and consistent results across the majority of the ranking’s evaluation criteria. In particular, the School secured 3rd place worldwide in the International Work Mobility indicator, which measures graduates’ ability to pursue and advance their careers in international environments outside their country of origin.
In the International Course Experience indicator, which reflects the international exposure provided by the program by assessing students’ opportunities to study and complete internships abroad during the program, Nova SBE ranks 5th globally. A significant number of its students complete exchange programs and internships—or both—outside Portugal and outside their home countries.
Nova SBE’s institutional commitment to sustainability was also recognized by the Financial Times, with the School ranking 9th worldwide in the Carbon Footprint indicator. This metric assesses schools’ carbon footprint performance, considering the establishment of concrete emissions-reduction targets and the publication of emissions reports, further reinforcing Nova SBE’s position as a school committed to addressing global environmental challenges.
Pedro Oliveira, Dean of Nova SBE, highlighted that:
"Nova SBE’s inclusion in the elite Tier 1 group of the Financial Times Masters in Finance ranking, with the highest score ever achieved by a Portuguese school, represents recognition of the consistency and quality of our academic project. This distinction confirms that we are among the world’s highest-performing schools in management, economics, and finance, combining academic excellence, international reach and impact, innovation, and a strong commitment to sustainability. It is a result that reflects the collective efforts of our students, alumni, faculty, staff, and partners, all of whom contribute to establishing Nova SBE as a global reference in management education. From Portugal to the world."
Catherine da Silveira, Associate Dean for International Affairs & Partnerships at Nova SBE, added:
"In just a few years, Nova SBE has established itself as one of Europe’s leading references in finance education, surpassed only by French business schools. These results also demonstrate the School’s strong international dimension, one of our defining characteristics. Through our extensive international network, whether with other business schools or corporate partners, we provide exchange opportunities and truly transformative experiences across different markets. Beyond imparting knowledge, our goal is to ensure that our graduates develop the skills and perspective required to build truly global careers in an increasingly international and demanding environment."
