Nova School of Business & Economics (Nova SBE) received with deep sadness the news of the passing of Professor José Miguel Leonardo.

José Miguel Leonardo distinguished himself through a remarkable career in the business world, serving as CEO of Randstad Portugal and, more recently, as Vice President of the National Board of the Portuguese Red Cross. Throughout his career, he maintained a strong commitment to leadership, human development, and social impact. Randstad was one of the first companies to sign the Commitment to Inclusion from Inclusive Community Forum (ICF).

At Nova SBE, José Miguel Leonardo taught, as an Adjunct Professor, the exclusive course unit offered through the school's partnership with CEMS (Global Alliance in Management Education), as part of the Master’s in International Management (MIM).

His contribution to student development and to the academic excellence of the program was invaluable, reflecting the tremendous value he brought to the classroom. With a practical, insightful, and inspiring perspective, he generously shared his experience, knowledge, and vision, leaving a lasting impact on his students.

José Miguel Leonardo will be remembered as a human-centered leader, a distinguished professional, and a person of exceptional dedication to others. His personal and professional qualities left a lasting mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working with him, including students, faculty, and staff.

Nova SBE extends its deepest condolences to Professor José Miguel Leonardo’s family, friends, and colleagues, as well as to all those who had the privilege of sharing part of their journey with him. A special word of solidarity is extended to his son, Pedro Leonardo, a Nova SBE alumnus and graduate of the CEMS MIM program.
