The headline published today in Diário de Notícias contains several inaccuracies, which are explained by the fact that the newspaper did not ask any questions to the Nova SBE Management Board.
The issue of autonomy, or the degree of autonomy, has been debated for several decades inside and outside the university, solely as a functional means to fulfill Nova SBE's mission.
A mission that necessarily requires decentralization, but which does not imply any institutional divorce, much less leaving the public sphere.
The news article is certainly based on the initial conclusions of a project that the school is developing on the subject "The School of The Future", which pointed to several challenges and theoretical paths, none of which have yet been endorsed by the Nova SBE's Management Board or its respective statutory bodies.
The project, currently in its final stages, aims to define what the public school of the future should be and what specific role one of the best schools of management, economics and finance in Europe - which Nova SBE already is - can play in the face of the impact of artificial intelligente, the greatest technological transformation of the century.
