João Marques-Gomes did his training in value-based health care at ICHOM, at the Harvard Business School, with Michael Porter and Bob Kaplan, and at the Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin, with Elizabeth Teisberg. Holds a PhD in economics and an MBA. Professor of health management at the Nova School of Business & Economics (Nova SBE), and at the Nova Medical School. Leading figure in the value-based health care strategy movement in Europe and Latin America. Chair of the Nova University’s institute for value-based health care, and Vice-President of IBRAVS, the Brazilian Institute for Value in Health. Served as a member of the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM) implementation team, founded by the Harvard Business School, the Karolinska Institute, and the Boston Consulting Group. As a management consultant, João Marques-Gomes has worked for public and private hospitals in Europe and Latin America, the European Commission, the Portuguese Ministry of Health, the Portuguese Pharmaceutical Society, and for pharmaceutical companies that are among the world’s top 10 pharmaceutical companies in sales.
