Xavier Barreto holds a postgraduate degree in Hospital Management from the National School of Public Health – University of Lisbon and in Management of Healthcare Services from the Porto Business School – University of Porto. He also holds a degree in Advanced Studies in Research in Health Sciences from the Faculty of Medicine - University of Barcelona and he is specialist in Lean Production - School of Engineering of the University of Minho. He is currently Director of the Outpatient Center of the University Hospital Center of São João EPE and invited teacher at the University of Porto. He was member of the Technical Group for Hospital Reform and has been working in hospital management (public and private hospitals in Portugal) for over 20 years. He is President of the Portuguese Association of Hospital Managers and member of the Executive Committee of the European Association of Hospital Managers.
