Marco Berti
Marco Berti
Associate Professor

An academic, consultant, and researcher in the field of Organizational Studies, Marco Berti has an international career that bridges Europe and Australia.

Before joining academia, he built an international career spanning more than 20 years as a management consultant, specializing in organizational development and strategy, and collaborating with companies across multiple sectors, including automotive, technology, finance, public administration, and healthcare.

At Nova SBE, he teaches courses on leadership, ethics, and organizational change, adopting an experiential approach that challenges participants to explore organizational paradoxes and tensions as opportunities for learning and innovation.

His research focuses on organizational complexity and paradox theory, examining how organizational members reconcile seemingly opposing forces — such as change and stability, control and autonomy, creativity and standardization. His work has been published in top academic journals, including the Academy of Management Review, Journal of Management Studies, and Organization Studies, and has led to several influential books, such as Organizational Compassion: A Relational Approach and Elgar Introduction to Organizational Paradox Theory.

Marco is also an active speaker at international conferences, sharing insights on topics such as compassion and resilience in organizations, and promoting a critical and humanistic perspective on management.

His academic background reflects a blend of analytical rigor and critical thinking, aimed at understanding the contradictions and power dynamics that shape contemporary organizations.

In Executive Education, Marco Berti invites leaders and teams to face complexity head-on, transforming inevitable contradictions into sources of learning, clarity, and organizational innovation.

Marco Berti holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Studies from the University of Technology Sydney and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Bologna.
