… is the podcast of the Nova SBE Health Economics & Management Knowledge Center, dedicated to the major challenges facing health in Portugal. The project is organised into two complementary series: Debates claros sobre decisões difíceis (Clear Debates on Difficult Decisions), which examines key issues in health policy and the organisation of the health system, and O Tempo Conta (Time Matters), dedicated to the implications of longevity and ageing for society, science and public policy.

Saúde em Perspetiva – Debates claros sobre decisões difíceis is the podcast of the Nova SBE Health Economics & Management Knowledge Center, dedicated to discussing key challenges facing the health system in Portugal.

At a time when health decisions are increasingly complex, interconnected and subject to public scrutiny, the podcast creates a space for informed, rigorous and accessible reflection on major issues in healthcare.

In a conversational format, each episode brings together scientific evidence, economic analysis and public policy experience to explore topics such as health workforce challenges, the organisation of health services, access to care, innovation, technology, equity and the sustainability of health systems.

The podcast is moderated by Hélia Bernardo and coordinated by Pedro Pita Barros, Full Professor at Nova School of Business and Economics. Episodes are recorded and released in Portuguese.

Saúde em Perspetiva – O Tempo Conta brings together conversations dedicated to longevity and ageing, one of the most significant transformations shaping contemporary societies.

As life expectancy increases, new challenges arise for health systems, public policies and the organisation of societies. Discussing these issues is essential to better understand demographic change and to anticipate the decisions that will shape the coming decades.

Moderated by journalist Margarida Vaqueiro Lopes, the conversations feature Pedro Pita Barros, specialist in health economics; Luísa Lopes, neuroscientist and research coordinator in ageing at the GIMM Foundation and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon; and Maria João Valente Rosa, demographer and professor at NOVA FCSH and researcher at the Portuguese Institute of International Relations. Episodes are recorded and released in Portuguese.
