On June 25, NOVA Medical School will host the 3rd edition of the Nutrition Shark Tank, an initiative developed in partnership with the Health Economics & Management Knowledge Center at Nova SBE.

The event will bring together recent graduates of NOVA Medical School’s Bachelor's Degree in Nutritional Sciences to present innovative projects developed over the past several months through the Shark Tank Academy. Throughout this journey, participants were challenged to transform scientific knowledge into practical solutions with the potential to create a positive impact on health and society.

Teams will present their projects to a panel of experts—the “Sharks”—composed of leaders from healthcare, industry, innovation, and public policy. More than simply evaluating ideas, the panel will challenge assumptions, provide critical insights, and help refine the proposed solutions. Invited organizations include leading institutions such as Nestlé, CUF, Médis, Hospital da Luz, Multicare, Diaverum, Taguspark, and Sonae MC, among others.

The event will also feature the “Health 360” Roundtable, a strategic discussion bringing together experts from academia (Ana Moita Macedo, NOVA Medical School), health economics (Pedro Pita Barros, NOVA SBE), the business sector (Eduardo Batista Correia, Taguspark), and local government (Bárbara Carvalho, Cascais City Council) to discuss the major challenges facing Portugal’s healthcare system.

More than a competition of ideas, the Nutrition Shark Tank provides a unique opportunity to foster connections between academia, the healthcare sector, and potential partners, while promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and the application of scientific knowledge to real-world challenges.
