The Intergenerational Equity of Labour in Portugal
News | 28 October 2021 The Intergenerational Equity of Labour in Portugal

New generations with less social support and more fixed-term contracts is what the future will bring, concludes a study coordinated by Pedro Martins and published by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. The analysis concluded that having an advanced education still helps to earn better salaries, but it has already paid off more on the payroll. The study says that fixed-term contracts are a constant reality for younger generations and that older people still receive more benefits from social contributions, including unemployment benefits. Generations show a stable pattern in salary payments, all levelled down. The study was mentioned in Porto Canal, Rádio Renascença, TSF, Visão, TVI, Jornal Económico, Jornal de Notícias, ECO and Correio da Manhã, among others.
