HealthEConnect Horizon Scale-UP Project

We have recently kicked-off the project “HealthEConnect”, funded by the European Commission through the Innovation Ecosystems initiative within Horizon Europe, with a consortium of European partners including the BioInnovation Institute, Copenhagen Business SchoolNOVA Medical School - Faculdade de Ciências MédicasNova School of Business and EconomicsPatient Innovation and Startup Europe Regions Network (SERN).

This project is aimed at connecting the health innovation ecosystems in Denmark and Portugal and intends to develop a new educational program on health innovation building upon previous and ongoing collaborations between institutions in the two countries, namely the EIT Health MSc labelled program, students exchanges and the Patient Innovation Bootcamp acceleration program.

  • The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Kin-moon, recognized Patient Innovation as an example of "Commitments to Collective Action" due to its contribution to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. Mr. Ban Ki-moon deemed the project "highly encouraging" (2016).
  • Featured in the exhibition "Beyond the Lab: The DIY Science Revolution" organized by the London Science Museum. The exhibition visited 29 European countries from 2016 to 2018.
  • Patient Innovation was the "most voted project from the crowd" (with about 26,000 votes) and a semifinalist at Harvard Heath Innovation Challenge, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, USA (2014).
