// 7 th Meeting of the Portuguese Economic Journal
Nova SBE invites researchers to submit theoretical, applied or policy-oriented research papers on any field of economics to the meeting.The meeting will be hosted by UBI - University of Beira Interior - in Covilhã, on the 8th and 9th of July, 2013.

lisbon meeting The Lisbon Meeting on Institutions and Political Economy, jointly organized by Pedro Magalhães (ICS), Susana Peralta (Nova SBE), Jaime Reis (ICS), and Jose Tavares (Nova SBE) took place May 30 and 31 at the Institute of Social Sciences.

// PhD in Economics is the only one in Portugal with funding from FCT (Foundation for Science and Technology) - 91.500€
Nova SBE was the only faculty that got the application for funding activities of its PhD in Economics approved. From the 238 applications from different institutions, only 51 got the approval. Nova SBE will get the highest amount of funding granted by FTC – 91.500€. Susana Peralta, the academic director of the Research Masters in Economics and PhD in Economics, is the professor responsible for the application. With this funding, educational institutions will have autonomy to decide and allocate the best use of these resources such as in scholarships, possible invitations to foreign professors, Summer Schools, or in other scientific activities that support the PhD program. // Ph.D at Nova SBE provides International Academic Career
Pedro Barroso and Vladimir Otrachshenko, two of our Ph.D students, got excellent positions as Lecturer in Exeter University, UK (considered the University of the Year 2012/2013, by the Sunday Times) and Junior Researcher in Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM), Venice Italy.

// Final Master in Economics Work Projects
On the 21st February Nova Economics Club organised a presentation of the final Master Work Projects ( Economics@Work ). "Portuguese Tabacco Law: What are the effects on Smoking Rates"  and "The Influence of Traditional Authority on Voting Behaviour in Mozambique" were some of the Master in Economics Work Projects presented at NOVA.
