Nova SBE has recently launched the second edition of the Gap Year Scholarship. This contest is a partnership between the Gap Year Portugal and Nova School of Business and Economics, and wants to give an opportunity to the students to have a break between the graduation and the master, through a scholarship of 5.000 euros. "Gap Year fits perfectly into our experiential learning strategy and aims to enrich students with new academic, personal and professional perspectives," says Daniel Traça, Dean of Nova SBE.
The winner of the first edition of the Gap Year Scholarship was Heloísa Dias, student of Nova SBE (Economics). Heloísa is 20 years old from Loulé, Algarve. Heloísa chose to travel for 6 months in South America and visit countries such as Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Brazil and Ecuador. Do not think that it will be to rest: the student will do a volunteer program, an internship in a hostel or restaurant and shadowing for a job.
To be a candidate the student has to present a detailed plan of the trip, the itinerary, the budget and activities, as voluntary work or job shadowing, on which they will be involved. This is the challenge, the student that present the better project will receive the scholarship that will cover this gap year.
Through this contest, Nova SBE wants that their students get involved with new realities, and to contribute to their academic success, personal and professional. The Gap Year is a common practice in Universities as Harvard, Yale, Princeton e Brown.
The applications are open and will be available until May.
